Ros Atkins is the BBC’s Analysis Editor labelled 'Explainer-in-Chief' due to his pioneering style of video explainers which have become a global phenomenon with vast audiences across social media and the BBC news outlets. The Sunday Times has credited him with having 'invented a new genre of reporting' which can be seen on his BBC News show Outside Source and his new BBC One show Ros Atkins On The Week - a sharp, impartial and to the point summary of the week's news.
Ros has anchored coverage for many of the biggest global stories including Brexit, COVID19, the war in Ukraine and multiple US and European elections and has reported from all over the world. Ros also co-presents The Media Show alongside Katie Razzle on BBC Radio 4 and in 2024 launched his podcast Communicating with Ros Atkins where he interviews the likes of Rob Brydon, Tina Brown and Martin Lewis on how they communicate with their audiences.
In early 2022, Ros sprung a surprise by revisiting his days as a DJ with a drum and bass mix for BBC Radio 6 Music. The mix went viral and led to widespread press coverage as did his 2024 set at Glastonbury Festival.
He can talk on the art of accurate and effective communication, explaining complex issues compellingly as well as identifying problems and creating products that navigate these turmoils. He builds on his journalistic experience of navigating a broad range of topics including global affairs, interstitial change and can also cover his experience going viral and having a digital impact that is innovative and creative. His book ‘The Art of Explanation’ was published in September 2023 which guides readers on how to get across complex information clearly.
