Roland Gift



Roland Gift is the former singer/frontman of the pop band Fine Young Cannibals who went on to develop a successful acting career whilst retaining and building on his reputation as a highly accomplished singer songwriter.

Roland's multiple film roles included Sammy and Rosie Get Laid, Out of Order, as Romeo in the Hull Truck Theatre's production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, a production which had a brief run in the United States, the Tin Man directed by Barry Levinson, Scandal playing Christine Keeler's boyfriend and The Island of the Mapmaker's Wife.

Roland's TV appearances include five appearances as the evil Immortal Xavier St. Cloud in Highlander, Heartbeat for Yorkshire Television and as Eddie Mullen in Painted Lady starring Helen Mirren.

In 2020, he starred as Johnny Holloway, an ex-pop star sent to jail, in the BBC Radio 4 musical drama Return to Vegas. Roland wrote the play and co-composed the music.

Roland has enjoyed a long association with Jools Holland appearing with him on tour and most recently as a special guest on the 2023 edition of Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny show singing Fine Young Cannibals hits "Suspicious Minds" and "Good Thing"
