Charles Burns is not only a Silhouette artist available as a roaming artist for your event he also can provide an excellent after dinner talk discussing the history of Silhoutte artistry.
His after dinner talk traces the story of the silhouette from the first professional silhouettists, working in Georgian London, to the proliferation of weird silhouette-cutting machines – such as the physiognotrace – during the Regency period. He describes how the invention of photography put an end to the craze for silhouettes, and how the art was then quietly revived after the invention of the picture postcard in the 1900s. A fascinating after dinner talk.
Charles is a brilliant addition to any corporate event, such as drinks reception or dinner.
As a roaming Artiste he can create personalised silhouettes of your guests.
He performed at one of our Christmas Speaker Drinks, creating a montage of silhouettes of the celebrities present (below) which was auctioned in aid of charity Just a Drop.
Charles has also recorded a documentary of the history of silhouettes which is available on Amazon.
